The typical "MAP" sensor or Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor generates a voltage proportional to manifold pressure. Some "MAP" sensors generate a frequency. BoostCruncher™ is not for use with frequency dependent types. The typical voltage dependent MAP sensor puts out half a volt D.C. at low pressures and 4-1/2 VDC at maximum pressure. Included here-in are graphs for 1 Bar, 2 Bar and 3 Bar MAP sensors.

BoostCruncher™: $89

Regardless of whether 1, 2 or 3 Bar each range of MAP sensor still generates .5 to 4.5 VDC. BoostCruncher™ may be set to clamp the output voltage anywhere from 2-1/2 to 4.5 VDC. BoostCruncher™ is easily set using the adjusting potentiometer and the corresponding yellow L.E.D. that lights when clamping action is taking place.

We have found BoostCruncher™ to be particularly useful on turbocharged Dodge vehicles where the PCM shuts down the engine if excess boost is seen.
